MUD FUTURE

MUD FUTURE is a science-fiction hellscape for MÖRK BORG, where the desperate folk try to survive as capitalism slowly destroys the world.

THE FUTURE IS A LIE

Flying cars. High rises. Smartphones. Virtual reality. Clean air. Clean water.

We don't have any of that. Instead we live in industrial runoff, eating dirt-eels and watching as the world winds down, as they try to get as much 'value' out of it as they can. They call us water thieves because we catch the rain, or suck it from the earth, and so they send in raids of police-marauders to get us to pay what they claim we owe. 

Nanomachine pollution has infected everyone. We see new gods: giant neon insects and vermin. They can cause the nanite trash in our veins to help or kill, and any aid comes with strange prices attached, if the gods can be bothered to notice us.

If you want to find enough loot to survive, you'll need to trespass into abandoned corporate facilities or the active ones of the wealthy. Both contain their own lethal dangers.

The upper classes are walled off, thinking themselves immune to the coming miseries. In the last days of this decaying world, we may prove them wrong, or just carve our names into the mud with what artifacts we dredge up.

• Future miseries for an apocalypse caused by the rich, new gods, and whoever else
• Small bestiary of cops, skin-thieves, vat-grown strangler placentas
• Future weapons! Not guns though, because that alerts gunshot sensors and draws down police artillery or bombs driven by repurposed cat brains
• Prosthetics, augmentations, and their SHTWARE or OLDWARE problems - either they're full of corpo spyware or they're old and sometimes cantankerous
• 'Rules' for 'converting' magic scrolls to science fiction - 'Nanomachines, son!'
• A big  Appendix N

This project is still under development. I know the MÖRK BORG folks are making CY BORG, and I'm not trying to steal their thunder (I honestly believe I cannot). But I wanted to make some of my own misery-crawls through a terrible future.
